Selena

She was a musician singer-performer, and designer who broke through obstacles in the field. She was at once traditional and modern a Mexican-American singer who brought together the two genres with a unique approach. She also delivered excellent Tejano music to an affluent audience. The tragic loss of her life shattered her rising profile and as often happens when a glowing, charming superstar dies young, she caused many to grieve every potential that was not fully realized. Through the years, her fans were encouraged to push themselves harder to ensure that Selena's achievements would not be forgotten. The tragic shooting death of Selena caused a reaction in the Latino Community, similar as the reaction to deaths of Elvis Presley or John Lennon. Selena was a wildly loved Latino artist across North America. Her music transcended cultural barriers and brought joy to youngsters as well as older adults. Selena might have been described by many as a Latina Madonna, however she's still an excellent example to follow. Selena's off-stage family values and her participation in AIDS awareness programs provide a great example.
